Kundalini Tantra Yoga
Energy of Awakening
The word Kundalini is a familiar one to all students of Yoga, as it is well known as the power of Awakening, represented as a coiled serpent, residing at the base of the spine in Muladhara Chakra (1st Chakra, Root).
All Yogic practices are focused on awakening this power and make it to pass through all the succeeding Chakras beginning from Svadhishthana (2nd Chakra, Sex), and moving through the following Chakras in order. Manipuraka (3rd Chakra, Solar Plexus), Anahata (4th Chakra, Heart). Visuddha (5th Chakra, Throat), Ajna (6th Chakra Third-eye), and Sahasrara (7th Chakra, Crown) in order. The later is known as the thousand-petalled lotus, and is the seat of Cosmic Consciosness. Kundalini energy, or the Shakti, is its polar opposite, which lies at the Muladhara. To unite these two polarities, also seen as male (Cosmic Consciousness) and female (Kundalini), grants liberation on the aspirant who assiduously practices Yoga.
In worldly-minded people, given to enjoyment of just material pleasures, this Kundalini power is sleeping because of the absence of any stimulus in the form of a spiritual practice. It is the power generated through such a practice that awakens this Creative Energy, and not any other power derived through the possession of worldly riches and affluence. When the aspirant seriously practices a Yogic Discpline, as instructed by an accomplished teacher, and guides and helps others also to achieve the same end, then the veils or layers enmeshing Kundalini begin to be cleared and finally are torn asunder. This "serpent-power" then is driven upwards to meet with Comsic Consciousness in the 7th Chakra.
Supersensual visions appear before the mental eye of the aspirant. New worlds with indescribable wonders and charms unfold themselves before the Yogi. Planes after planes reveal their existence and grandeur to the practitioner and the Yogi receives divine knowledge, power and bliss in increasing degrees. When Kundalini passes through Chakra after Chakra, bringing them to bloom in all their glory. The Yogi then emanates tthe Chakra's divine light and fragrance, and reveals the divine secrets and phenomena, which lie concealed from the eyes of worldly-minded people who would refuse to believe of even their existence.
When Kundalini ascends from one Chakra to another, the Yogi also ascends one step upward in the Yogic ladder. The next page, he/she reads in the divine book of Life. The more Kundalini travels upwards, the more the Yogi also advances towards the goal of spiritual perfection. When Kundalini reaches the top centre, the Thousand-petalled lotus, the Yogi loses his/her individuality in the ocean of Existence-Knowledge-Bliss Absolute, and becomes one with the Lord or Supreme Soul. He/She is no longer an ordinary person, not even a simple Yogi, but a fully illuminated sage, having reached the eternal and unlimited divine kingdom. A hero having won the battle against illusion. A Mukta or liberated one having crossed the ocean of ignorance . A superhuman having the authority and capacity to save the other struggling souls of this relative world.
